It is really a tough thing to force yourself up in the morning when you really have not enough sleep. This morning we went to check out our school canteen, it was kind of different from what I have thought it would be… There were many seats around as we are quite late because we woke up late, and then the foods were just the left over from the morning. I really appreciate our very own Ngee Ann Poly Canteens, where we can find food to eat any moment not to worry about the food being sold out! Things are really very different from Singapore; it does take a lot of initiative for one to be able to get a meal. There is this saying “早起的鸟儿,有虫吃。”, I think this is very true in China! If you want to have food and choose what you want, then you jolly well wake up early and prepare yourself.
During our free and easy time, we together with Mr Puah went to search for SIM card to call back to our families. It wasn’t a very smooth search as phone shops are located quite far away from our hostel. When we reach the shop, Mr Puah tried to buy a SIM card and the shop keeper told him that he can activate the card at 2pm, as the people in the telecom shop says that the people at the head quarter are having lunch and they will only be back at 2pm. After hearing this I felt that in Singapore we are always enjoying good service and its almost perfect service but still we complain nonstop… I really feel ashamed of myself when that thought came into me; after all I’m just an ungrateful Singaporean. Thank God in the end all of us were able to get our SIM card activated!
While buying dinner at night time, we witness a quarrel scene between a store owner and a customer. This is the third quarrel we witness so far since we reach China. The quarrel wasn’t really a soft one, they raise their voices very loudly and they couldn’t be bothered by people around looking at them. I am kind of amazed by how they could over look the passer-by and concentrate on their quarrel. But I must admit that I don’t know the main problem of their fight, as they really speak too quickly. One pleasant point here is that, their food here is really tasty and nice, and the portion is really very big!
Coming to China is really a unique experience, it is something that I feel personally that you can never buy with money. I’m looking forward to the coming new experience and exciting event that we will be going!
(hope you find the photos order better than the previous post!) =X
